Our Ideology
Our Ideological Values

The Queer Youth Network believes these principles will allow us to achieve our objectives in the fairest and most efficient means possible.

Inclusion, Diversity and Respect
- We will act responsibly by ensuring what we do is safe and inclusive.

- We will increase social cohesion by recognising and celebrating our differences.

- We will be proactive in seeking to maintain our human rights, civil liberties and social freedoms.

- We will challenge all forms of discrimination and social oppression.

Engagement, Participation and Empowerment
- We believe volunteering within our community is the most efficient method of furthering social change.

- We believe effectively empowering a community is crucial element in increasing it's overall well-being.

- We will actively reach out to our own queer communities and across all sections of society.

- We will be both proactive and reactive in growing as a movement by championing consultation and involvement.

Mutuality, Collaboration, and Cooperation
- We will welcome opportunities to work in partnership with other individuals and groups in order to achieve a common goal.

- We will make fair but effective decisions in consensus by acknowledging our limitations and challenges.

- We will share and disseminate our skills, good practice, resources, facilities, experiences and knowledge.

- We will ensure our work is transferable at local, regional, national and international levels and across multiple sectors

Autonomy, Independence and Sustainability
- We believe in practice that places the decision making process in the hands of those directly affected.

- We will ensure the board of trustees consists of capable, competent and dedicated individuals.

- We will remain dynamic as possible in responding to the changing needs of our membership.

- We will defend the role of the constitution at every level of the organisation and in the long term.
